    Purpose of This Worksheet

Many wrestlers think they have a confidence problem when they compete. More often, they have a focus problem.

In practice, wrestlers focus on execution. They think about their stance, hand fighting, setups, attacks, finishes, and technique. They stay focused on doing what they have trained to do.

During matches, many wrestlers shift their focus to evaluating. They start thinking about the score, whether they are winning or losing, what others are thinking, mistakes they have made, or what might happen next.

When wrestlers focus on evaluating, they often become hesitant, tense, and reactive.

The best competitors stay focused on the next opportunity to score. They don't get stuck on the last mistake, the current score, or the final outcome. They simply ask themselves:

"How can I score the next points?"

This worksheet is designed to help you evaluate your focus, identify distractions, recognize scoring opportunities, and train your mind to stay locked in on execution.

Remember: Stop evaluating. Start executing. Focus on scoring the next points.

    Final Reflection

    Coach's Challenge

The scoreboard tells you what has already happened.

Champions focus on what happens next.

Don't waste energy thinking about the last mistake, the last takedown, or the final outcome. Stay present. Stay aggressive. Stay focused on creating the next scoring opportunity.

When your mind starts evaluating, bring it back to execution.

    One position.

    One opportunity.

    One score at a time.

Focus on scoring the next points.

"Coach Dee has had a powerful impact on our son, Wes, in a way that goes far beyond sports. When Wes first began working with him, he struggled with confidence and often doubted himself when things became difficult. Coach Dee helped him shift his mindset from fear of failure to understanding that growth comes through effort, consistency, and perseverance. Through wrestling, Wes learned how to handle adversity, stay disciplined, and keep showing up even when things didn't go his way. Coach Dee consistently reinforced the importance of delayed gratification and trusting the process, even when results weren't immediate. That guidance helped Wes grow into a more resilient and focused athlete, eventually achieving milestones he once didn't think were possible. What makes Coach Dee especially impactful is that his influence extends beyond a single sport. The mindset he teaches has carried over into baseball and into everyday life. Wes now approaches challenges with more confidence, better focus, and a willingness to learn from mistakes instead of being discouraged by them. Coach Dee doesn't just train athletes..he builds character, confidence, and mental toughness. He holds kids accountable while also believing in their potential, and he has a gift for helping them see what they are capable of before they can see it themselves. We are truly grateful for Coach Dee's leadership and the lasting impact he has had on Wes. His coaching has shaped not just an athlete, but a stronger, more confident Wes."
