Volleyball Mindset Training
"Every excuse, obstacle, and limiting belief is trying to block your potential."
Great volleyball players don't become great because they never face adversity. They become great because they learn how to respond when the game gets hard. Sometimes the challenge is an excuse. Sometimes it's a missed serve, a hitting error, frustration, or a real obstacle standing in your way.
A winning mindset doesn't ignore reality—it responds to it. Your goal is to identify what is holding you back, develop a stronger mindset, and commit to an action that moves you forward on the court.
Excuse, Limiting Belief, or Obstacle | Winning Mindset | Action I Will Take |
|---|---|---|
| Example: "My passes are off because the gym lighting is weird." | Example: "I can't control the gym, but I control my platform and my footwork." | Example: "I will focus on getting my feet to the ball faster on every serve receive." |
1. What challenge has held you back the most this season?
Example: "I play scared after I make a hitting error."
2. How has it affected your preparation and performance?
Example: "I start tipping the ball instead of swinging aggressively."
3. What mindset will help you compete at your best?
Example: "Mistakes happen. I need to stay aggressive and trust my swing."
4. What action will you take this week to reinforce that mindset?
Example: "After an error, I will tell my setter to give me the ball again."
5. What area of growth have you been avoiding?
Example: "Communicating louder on the court because I'm shy."
You won't win every point, but you can choose how you respond to every point.
Focus on the next play. When you let excuses creep in, you give away your power. Take ownership of your response.
"Don't let excuses block the player you're capable of becoming." 🏐💪
